Me am Bizzaro

So, I’ve been working on a book for the past two years, based on an expansion of my dissertation. It centers around the strange conception that people have equated President Donald Trump to Superman.

These two men are nothing alike in any significant ways. Not in deed or thought, but people try to falsely equate Trump as a kind of Superman. He is not, but he is perhaps the inverse of Superman: Bizzaro Superman.

Bizzaro Superman first appeared in Superboy #68 (1958). He was envisioned by his creators, Otto Binder and George Papp, as the “mirror image” of Superman. From the get go, Bender envisioned Bizzaro Superman much like a Frankenstein’s monster.

What is fascinating perhaps and strangely related to Trump’s own pension for lying, is that Bizzaro speaks in a kind of opposite language, as noted in the title. It amuses me to see this comparison because it feels very fitting.

Getting back to the book I’m working on, I kept seeing this image of Bizzaro Trump and Superman cross cut on the cover of the book. An artist friend of mine didn’t see how to do it, so I decided to take up the gauntlet myself. Here is the result:

Rendered in pencil and pen, then digitally colored

To be honest, this is a monster it’s hard to look away from.

So, I decided to add some of Trump’s own words:

Now, this is just be throwing insult that somehow I managed to make this Trump look a bit like Sloth from the Goonies.
